The Maybach GLS 680.
The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 is an updated, more powerful version of the Maybach GLS, renamed from GLS 600 to GLS 680 for this generation. Mercedes has officially announced it with a new electrified V8 biturbo engine rated at 603 hp and 627 lb-ft (with up to 23 hp of additional temporary boost from the 48-volt mild-hybrid system), versus 550 hp and 568 lb-ft in the outgoing GLS 600, plus a reworked grille, new DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps with rose-gold accents and illuminated, projecting running boards.
As of October 2026 Mercedes has not yet published U.S. pricing, dimensions, curb weight, or performance figures such as 0-60 time and top speed; the company says the SUV is heading to U.S. dealerships later in the 2026-2027 timeframe. It carries over the current GLS's AIRMATIC air suspension with E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL, MB.OS-based MBUX Superscreen, and MB.DRIVE ASSIST/DISTRONIC driver-assistance suite.
It suits Maybach GLS buyers who are willing to wait for the more powerful, visually updated 2027 version rather than buying the current GLS 600 — this is a genuine update, not a carryover.
