The i5.
The 2027 BMW i5 is the battery-electric version of the eighth-generation 5 Series sedan. The base i5 eDrive40 uses a single rear motor rated at 335 hp and 295 lb-ft (317 lb-ft with Sport Boost), and for 2027 its EPA-estimated range rises to 328 miles on 19-inch wheels, 18 miles more than before, with prices unchanged.
The lineup has three models: the rear-drive eDrive40, the dual-motor xDrive40 with 389 hp, and the i5 M60 xDrive with 593 hp and a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds. Every US i5 now has a NACS charge port, DC fast charging runs at up to 205 kW, and a new Convenience Package adds a heated steering wheel and Parking Assistant Plus. The i5 Touring wagon is not sold in the US.
It suits buyers who want a full-size executive sedan with electric drive and the same cabin and technology as the gas 5 Series.
