The iX5.
The 2027 BMW iX5 is the battery-electric version of the new fifth-generation X5, which brings Neue Klasse design and technology to BMW's midsize SUV. The single US model, the iX5 60 xDrive, uses a 325-hp rear motor and a 245-hp front motor for 570 hp and 593 lb-ft, with an estimated 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds and a 144-kWh battery on an 800-volt system.
As of October 2026 the iX5 is priced from $79,800 plus $1,450 destination, with US sales starting in the first quarter of 2027. BMW first estimated 435 miles of range and has since said it expects about 450 miles; the official EPA rating has not been published yet. DC charging at up to 460 kW takes it from 10 to 80 percent in about 22 minutes, and it is BMW Plant Spartanburg's first all-electric vehicle. A separate iX5 Hydrogen fuel-cell model is planned for later and is not part of this launch.
It suits buyers who want a midsize luxury SUV with very long electric range and some of the fastest charging on the market.
