The X5 G05.
The 2026 BMW X5 is the final model year of the outgoing fourth-generation (G05) X5, the midsize luxury SUV that arrived for the 2019 model year and was updated for 2024. It has been replaced by the all-new fifth-generation (G65) X5, which went on sale in the US in October 2026, so remaining G05 models are run-out stock. The base X5 sDrive40i uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six with 48V mild-hybrid technology, rated at 375 hp and 398 lb-ft, with an eight-speed Steptronic automatic and rear-wheel drive.
The lineup has four models: the rear-drive sDrive40i, the all-wheel-drive xDrive40i, the xDrive50e plug-in hybrid with 483 hp and an EPA-rated 40 miles of electric range, and the 523-hp V8 X5 M60i. Cargo space is 33.9 cu ft behind the rear seats and 72.3 cu ft with them folded, and the X5 is assembled at BMW Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina.
It suits buyers who want a proven midsize luxury SUV with six-cylinder, plug-in hybrid or V8 power and are comfortable choosing the outgoing generation.
